Evening. Crimea Patch

The “Evening. Crimea” Patch was created after a work by Ivan Aivazovsky in collaboration with ZAG Gallery, especially for the exhibition “SEA: see beyond the sea”.

Based on a work from the collection of the Odesa Fine Arts Museum, presented in the ZAG project

This painting carries us into a quiet moment of a Yalta evening—when the sky slowly spills into pink-and-gold tones, and the sea takes in this light as though holding it in its own depths. The water becomes a mirror of time, where the day’s last rays melt into soft reflections.

The rocky coast silently watches this transition, creating harmony between sky and sea. It is a state of stillness, when the day has not yet said goodbye and night is only touching the horizon.

Aivazovsky turns light into emotion—soft, warm, filled with space. In this moment, nature seems to pause its motion, allowing the viewer to feel freedom, calm, and that special breath of evening that lives between two worlds.
