Kateryna Patch
Description
The “Kateryna” patch was created together with ZAG Gallery for the exhibition “HE: Taras Shevchenko. The Artist.”
It is based on one of his key works from 1842. In this painting, Shevchenko appears not as an illustrator of his own text, but as an independent artist with a distinctive language of form and composition.
At the center is the figure of a young woman brought to the foreground. The space around her is open, yet inwardly she seems separated from it. The light, the rhythm of the landscape, and the distance between the figures create a sense of silence after a rupture. This is not a scene of condemnation or a theatrical drama, but an attentive, restrained look at the state of a person left alone with her own story.
The “Kateryna” patch transfers this focused image into a tangible format—as a way to see and wear Shevchenko specifically as an artist.
