Hutsulka Berehynia Patch
Description
Created in collaboration with artist Liubov Rozputniak, a member of the Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine.
This image is inspired by Hutsul tradition—its brightness, the power of its ornament, and its wealth of adornments. The necklace, wreath, and embroidered shirt emphasize a deep connection to Carpathian culture and to feminine strength passed down through generations.
The series was born from a desire to convey the spirit of Ukrainian culture and unite tradition with the present. At the center of the works is the image of a woman as a guardian, adorned with necklaces, wreaths, and an embroidered shirt—symbols of connection to the land, lineage, and memory.
A distinctive feature of these images is their stylized facial features, especially the eyes. This generalization allows every woman to recognize herself in the image—to see her own strength, story, and inner light in it.
We transferred this image into the form of a small embroidered patch—as a symbol of womanhood and a protective charm that can be carried close.
