Celebration in Bukovyna Easter Towel
Description
This towel was created after the carpet “Celebration in Bukovyna”, developed in collaboration with the Ukrainian Museum of Canada in Toronto.
The design is based on a carpet from the collection of John and Maria Yaremko, woven in 1971 by master weaver Hanna Lozynska.
Hanna Lozynska is often called a guardian of Ukrainian carpet weaving. She was born in Lviv region in 1930, was involved in folk crafts from childhood, and later graduated from the Ivan Trush Lviv School of Applied Arts. There she gained the professional foundation that enabled her to combine traditional techniques with her own artistic vision.
Her works often depict scenes of folk life, ritual motifs, and the symbolism of nature. Her carpets are sometimes called “woven chronicles” because they preserve the spirit of their time and the history of Ukrainian culture.
The original carpet is now held by the Ukrainian Museum of Canada.
The motif of this carpet evokes festive movement and joy — like an Easter morning when you gather with your family for breakfast and the world seems especially bright and warm.
A towel like this on the basket is a small continuation of that story: about family, celebration, and traditions that outlive generations.
Material: linen
Features: the item has two layers of fabric and is decorated with handmade tassels
