To a Party in Toronto Socks
Description
Comfortable and beautiful socks inspired by the Ukrainian carpet "Sheep My Sheep", which is collected in the family of the director of the Ukrainian Museum of Toronto, Tamara Ivanochko.
The image of this design comes from an image on a 1974 rug woven by an ethnic Ukrainian woman
Olena Frantz in Canada.
During the years 1891-1914, more than 170 thousand Ukrainians, mostly from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, left their native land. Emigrating abroad, they took household items with them, as well as the ability to make them, and passed this knowledge on to the next generations.
Now our diaspora in Canada is more than 1 million 350 thousand. In big cities, such as Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto, there are Ukrainian museums, public organizations and more than 300 parishes of the Orthodox and Greek Catholic churches, around which the community gathers. Many interesting Ukrainian carpets are stored there.
The historical name of the carpet is "Sheep, my sheep". Currently, it belongs to the family of Tamara Ivanochko, director of the Ukrainian Museum in Toronto (Canada).
Composition: 83% cotton, 12% polyester, 5% elastane
